The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
I enjoy this book. The language is a little bit confusing, as the book is rather old, but the plot pulls you in very quickly, so after the first few pages, you don't really notice it.  My favorite part is when Bilbo defeats a pack of large, hairy spiders.  I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good adventure and fantasy story.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
The Hunger Games is an intense, romantic thriller about love, fighting, and death.  I liked this book because all the plots and themes keep you interested from beginning to end.

Vampire Academy by Richard Mead
Another great tale with vampires and guardians.  The bond between friends in this story was great. It goes deeper than most friendships do -- risking your life to save a friend.

Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
"Suspenseful, and keeps you reading until the very last page."

A cross between romance and science fiction, Shiver is a great page turner. It's filled with suspense, and it catches your attention right away. Although I dont read most books about werewolves, vampires, and other mythical creatures, I checked this book out and immediately fell in love with it. Some parts are more violent than others, but not really gory.  The book mostly revolves around Sam and Grace's relationship -- which I liked -- and how Sam doesn't want to turn into a wolf, which I liked.  A great book from an incredible author, I would expect no less.  I think Shiver is great for people who love romance and science fiction.

The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane
I enjoyed reading this book because of some of the close-ups it gave of how things were during the Civil War. The main character, Henry Flemming, had to learn courage in the midst of the war. Before battle, Henry could not tell if he would run from battle or fight.  He found out when the enemy attacked and he though for sure they were beat, he ran.  He ran until someone told him his side had won! He was ashamed. But, the next battle was different, he decided that running wasn't good enough, so he charged. Even when failure seemed to stare at Henry in the face, he overcame his fears and fought harder the next time.

Silvermist & the Ladybug Curse by Gail Herman
In this book, every fairy has their own personality.  This book has a specific point which the book was written around.  That point was that a curse can only happen if you believe in it.  I truly enjoyed reading this book!
